Doug Stewart, Advisory Board
Doug Stewart is Vice President for Legislative Affairs at BAE Systems, a global defense, security, and aerospace company. As Vice President, Legislative Affairs he is responsible for developing and executing a prioritized legislative program that supports the objectives of BAE Systems and the respective business areas. Doug joined BAE Systems on January 1, 2007.
Prior to joining BAE Systems, Doug was Director of Legislative Affairs for Robison International, a defense and aerospace consulting firm, where he was responsible for fourteen defense clients. Doug is a retired Army Officer having served for over 20 years as an engineer with combat heavy engineer units and later in his career as an Army budget officer. In his final assignment, Doug was a liaison to Congress for the Army Budget Officer where he worked closely with Members of Congress and their staffs. The liaison assignment included traveling extensively with Members of Congress and their staffs to Army installations in the United States and around the world. Prior to his Army career, Doug was a high school teacher and wrestling coach.
Doug holds a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut and a Master's in Education from the State University of New York. Doug is also a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College and the Army's Basic and Advanced Engineer courses.
Doug is past President of the Washington Chapter of the National Defense Industrial Association. He currently serves as a board member of United Through Reading. Doug also provides quarterly briefings on “How the Military Works with Congress” to Department of Defense fellows through the Government Affairs Institute of Georgetown University.
